About us
MISSION
Daydawn was established in 2007 by Archbishop Barry Hickey.
We advocate for Aboriginal people all over Western Australia. We have a special focus on housing and homelessness, because we believe that a stable home is the first step for us all to be able to live a better life.
We can help with:
Advocacy for those who want to be placed on the public housing waitlist
Advocacy and support for tenants having difficulty with public housing demands.
Court representation for eviction matters;
Advice about government policies and procedures;
Referral to government and non-government agencies including medical, mental health, alcohol and substance abuse, legal aid, child protection, emergency accomodation and family violence services;
Exchanging ideas with Aboriginal leaders and families; and
Referrals and moral support in relation to the National Redress scheme and related trauma.
Daydawn aims to meet the gap in services currently available to Indigenous people.

WANT SOME HELP?
We don’t do appointments, but we are open for you to drop by Monday to Thursday – 9:30am to 1:00pm. We are closed on Firdays.
Our Address is 13/5 Aberdeen Street, Perth – opposite McIver train station and next to Tranby Engagement Hub (Uniting WA)
It’s always better for you to come along to the office. If you can’t make it in, you can call us on 9218 8035 . We get alot of calls, but if we miss your call, leave a message and we will try to get back to you as soon as we can.
The people who work in the office can help you by having a yarn with you to find out what you need and then doing what we can for you. You can bring family and friends along and there are toys for kids in the waiting room. We also have tea and coffee and biscuits.
We will not tell anyone your business unless you ask us to.
We can call Government and other mob and speak on your behalf and we can send letters and emails on your behalf.
We can support you at meetings and in court if we have people available.
We can write support letters for you to Homewest to try to get you on the priority waitlist for a house or get you a transfer or appeal a decision that Homewest made that you’re not happy with.
We can help you try to find some emergency accomodation, like women’s refuges and other temporary places to stay.
We can give you information about other services and support groups.
We can link you up with people in your community who may be able to help you.
We can link you up with people to help you with Redress claims and criminal injuries compensation and we can support you through the process.
